Rioned expands an enhanced hire fleet for 2019

2 1

The increase in demand for fully-equipped, industry compliant jetting vehicles has led to the growth of Rioned UK’s RioHire division over recent years. The company recently added seven new van-pack vehicles to its fleet and currently has a further eight vehicles undergoing conversion at its Thetford HQ.

Rioned UK General Manager, Andrew Wilson, explains that the hire market fluctuates based on the framework agreement requirements of utilities companies and subcontractors, but that Rioned’s operation-ready vehicles have continued to prove popular with a wide range of drainage contractors: “Our hire business has seen continued growth, and we’ve made some recent changes to further improve the rental offering.”

“We’ve standardised the vehicle implementation process to produce an enhanced standard package. It’s a customer-first approach that offers a ready-made solution with unique features, while still providing good value for money over short- or longer-term agreements.”

Meeting larger contractor requirements is a key part of the service with all rental vehicles now undergoing a standard interior conversion, which includes the installation of a bulkhead, waterproof spray lining, LED lighting, wash basins and shelving.

“The standard van-pack hire vehicle is now the long-wheelbase Transit Van 350 with exterior chevron signage for highways compliance,” says Andrew Wilson, explaining some of the recent changes. “The new vehicles have been fitted with a storage cupboard that is heated for drying wet kit. The heating system also doubles up as a night-heater to provide frost-protection for the jetter.”

Rioned has been fitting the AquaJet+ van-pack jetting unit in new vans. Weighing in at only 440KG, the high-pressure jetter is suitable for cleaning drains and sewers up to 400mm with a performance of 3000psi@12gpm. The unit was designed for single-user operation and offers the power of Rioned’s larger machines but with a smaller footprint for increased vehicle loading space and enhanced fuel-efficiency.

The standard jetter package includes a hydraulically driven high-pressure hose reel with 80 metres MaxFlow lightweight jetting hose, a filling reel with 35 metres of hose and a 400-litre water tank. The 5-channel radio remote can control the pump, engine revs and emergency stop, and all models feature the award-winning eCONTROL+ user interface.

Andrew Wilson says that simplifying the hire process and providing a flexible range of options is key to the success of RioHire: “Customers want the convenience of a fully equipped vehicle, but also the flexibility to customise the standard specification.”

“A good example is a recent project for a client with a contract to clear cable ducts ready for laying fibre optic cable. We were able to customise the hire package to include equipment with longer hose lengths and specialist nozzle kits.”

Alongside van-pack vehicles, combination units are also available on long- and short-term rental contracts.
